Ann Coulter knocks it out to of the park yesterday, opening her article on the Occupy Wall Street protests by saying, "So far, the only major accomplishments of the 'Occupy Wall Street' protests is that they have finally put an end to their previous initiative, Occupy Our Mother's Basements."

President Lincoln had such a grasp on the balance needed between equality and individual reliance. It seems many of the core issues that face this nation today come from a lack of balance between desiring to treat all equally, while requiring individual responsibility from the same.

San Juan Capistrano Shuts Down Home Church

Today I received this announcement from Brad Dacus, President of Pacific Justice Institute. I can't say I am surprised, but this is evidence of the spiritual battle against the church today; a battle the Church will prevail against, but must fight none the less.

The spiritual battle has many fronts today from outside and from within. Click here to read about a case in San Juan Capistrano that is just one more attack on Christianity. The difference is this time it is venturing into the area of private home life.

It is ludicrous to think that hypothetically my own family gathering for Bible time each night would need a permit under the City official's apparent interpretation of this law. Since my family meets nightly and there are seven of us in the home, then we would need a conditional use permit. Without this permit my own "Home Church" would be fined $500 a night which equates to over $182,000 a year in fines.

It amazes me to see how intrusive government in this state has become! Now obviously, I am thankful this is not happening in my town. The reality is that if it is not stopped in it's tracks, it is just a matter of time before they show up to regulate my home and yours next. What happened to freedom of religion or to the right of assembly? Amazing how far down the road of unconstitutional governing we have slid.

I pray that the PJI attorneys, along with Chuck and Stephanie Fromm, will be able to bless and curse not, as they stand for the unalienable right to worship Jesus Christ in the privacy of the Fromm home. Unalienable rights cannot be taken away and are granted by God, the Father of Jesus Christ. According to William Blackstone, founding era constitutional law professor, man's laws, inconsistent with God's laws, are not laws at all!

We are so often forgetful that our good is wrapped up in the good of the society as a whole.  A society regulated by the willing purchase of quality products, served by the servants who made them.  It is in each of our interest that the best possible products or services be offered at a price that people are willing to pay.  This is the heart of a free market system, requiring limited governmental regulation.  It works when people practice discernment.  It works when people are trustworthy.  It works when people work to feed themselves, using the two hands God gave them.

It doesn't work when people are lazy or untrustworthy.  It doesn't work when the government is no longer limited.  It doesn't work when people are not responsible to practice discernment.  It doesn't work when companies who made bad choices (yet are large contributors to campaigns) are considered, "Too big to fail."

Unfortunately, the overreaching of the federal government in recent years has promoted moral hazards.  Now businesses and individuals have the temptation to continue in immoral actions, because it is likely that they may not be held to account for their actions.  For example Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were bailed out by the government because they were too big to fail.  The individuals who agreed to mortgages, well beyond what was reasonable, have been allowed to walk away or practice in governmental encouraged refinances.  In this one example we see that the wrong behavior is being promoted corporately and individually and the consequences will have long reaching results.  This is what happens when we look to government to regulate every aspect of the market system.

What good it would do for us to go back and learn to think once again!  Think of serving others, trusting this will serve us well.  Think of the ramifications of my own actions to myself and to others.  Think long term.
