Update: Walkin' 4 Wyatt - 2011

I am pleased to announce that the 2011 Fresno JDRF walk went well this last Saturday.  Those managing the event estimate that there were in excess of 500 participants this year.

Wyatt was able to raise over $5600 by the day of the walk this year.  He was joined a few days before the walk with the addition of his first "Team Member," Talon Smith.  We where delighted to have Talon and his mom join us on walk day at Woodward Park in Fresno.  Talon is actively assisting Wyatt in raising money to find a cure for diabetes.  The deadline for the "Walkin' 4 Wyatt Team" to achieve the $10,000 mark is June 15th.  As of this morning they are at $6276!  We praise God for what He is orchestrating in the lives of these two boys as they set out to achieve goals of substance.  Lord willing, I actually fully expect them to exceed their goal!

Walkin' 4 Wyatt - 2011

Wyatt, our 7 year old, diabetic son is at it again!

This year he has set out to raise $10,000 to fund research that will hopefully lead to a cure for diabetes.  Yesterday after going to many businesses to ask for their support, I asked Wyatt why he liked raising money the way we do.  I figured that he was blessed by all of the people giving him "Atta boy" praise for trying to raise this kind of money at 7 years old.  Instead, I was blessed when he said,  "If I keep doing it, maybe someday I will be able to no longer have to be diabetic."

I am pleased to announce that the Lord has allowed Wyatt to reach 1/3 of his goal of $10,000!  I encourage you to click on the provided link and watch the video Wyatt recorded a few weeks ago.

As a family, we will walk the three miles with Wyatt on May 21st.  You are welcome to join us on Saturday morning at 8 am at Fresno's Woodward Park.  It was fun last year and I am sure will be this year as well.  We'd love to have anyone who desire to join us.

Thank Jesus for the difficulites...

"Do not resist or run from the difficulties in your life. These problems are not random mistakes; they are hand-tailored blessings designed for your benefit and growth. Embrace all the circumstances that I allow in your life, trusting Me to bring good out of them. View problems as opportunities to rely more fully on Me. When you start to feel stressed, let those feelings alert you to your need for Me. Thus, your needs become doorways to deep dependence on Me and increasing intimacy between us. Although self-sufficiency is acclaimed in the world, reliance on Me produces abundant living in the world, reliance on Me produces abundant living in My kingdom. Thank Me for the difficulties in your life, since they provide protection from the idolatry of self-reliance."  - Sarah Young, May 10th reading in Jesus Calling
